MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION

KEY INFORMATION

Come up with a video concept for your latest song! The winning musician / band will have their video idea produced.

  • Eligible music: one original song, released in 2025, or unreleased but fully complete (recorded and produced).

  • Songs between 2-5 minutes long.

  • Deadline to apply: 15th April, 23:59

  • Filming in Manchester, any days between 21-27 April (duration of filming will depend on song length).

Please read through the following FAQs before submission.

What happens if I win?
We'll take the video plan you've made, and work on each stage of production to produce a fully completed music video. This includes pre-production, filming, editing, colour grading—the whole package. For an idea of the standard to expect from us, click here for a previous music video.*
*Lighting may vary depending on locations and timings, providing different results from the example shown

I'm not free for the whole duration of 21-27 April. Is this a problem?

This is only a timeframe within which our filmmaking services will be available to the winner—we understand that it isn't feasible to clear schedules for the whole week, but please make sure you can be free for filming. As a general rule, 1 day of filming = 1 minute of final video, however this can be up to 2 or 3 minutes of footage per day depending on what is required.

Who will be judging my video idea, and making my video if I win?

The judging process is overseen by Louis Moss, and is carried out by a panel of 3 musicians, and 1 visual artist whose profession is to assess artistic applications. Louis is a filmmaker living in Manchester with extensive experience in music videos, short documentaries, live events, promotional videos, and short films. You will then be working directly with Louis to bring your idea to life.

Do you provide any other aspects of production?
Locations, actors, wardrobe, makeup, props, and other aspects that aren't classified as filming equipment or expertise will not be provided.

I don't know where to start with my idea
Keep things simple—set your video in locations you know we can film (i.e. public spaces), or places you already have permission. We won't be making a Hollywood Blockbuster, so keep your ideas realistic! Other advice is have a reason to be wanting to make a video. What will a video be adding to your song? And finally, write with visuals in mind!

I don't have any online presence, is this an issue?
No problem! If your music is good, and you have a solid video idea, you won't have any disadvantages.

What are you looking for in a winning video idea?
Something creative, simple and well-suited to your song. The quality of your music also plays a crucial part in its consideration.
